The project anchored its roots in the idea that sport can be a powerful tool for the well-being and reintegration of those serving or having served a prison sentence.

Recreational activities, including sports, are considered one of the pillars of the re-education of a convicted person. The contribution of these activities to reintegration can make a difference in ensuring a future of opportunity and away from delinquency.

With this project, CSI Milano, in a network with the Association and Equa Cooperativa sociale, and in collaboration with IPM Beccaria, the Casa Circondiale di San Vittore and numerous entities in the third sector and in the sports world, intends to promote sports practice and culture as a tool for inclusion and universal socialization.

Sport can contribute not only to improving the physical and mental condition of a young person or an adult who is experiencing an extremely difficult period such as prison, but also breaking down barriers and stigma in the prison environment.

To create opportunities for meetings with external society, both through awareness-raising and meeting actions inside and outside prison, the project contains 4 axes :

Sensabilization and civic commitment : to offer new opportunities for citizens to learn, through the direct voice of prisoners, about the reality of prisons in their area, with the podcast and publications in "Voci dal carcere".

Twinning of sports clubs and prison : with the creation of sports groups within the prison. The playful dimension inherent in sport eases the tensions created by the prison condition, positively modifies the routine of prison life and promotes healthy habits. And group activities play a fundamental role in socialization between people who share a situation of “forced coexistence”.

Life skills workshop : with activities stimulating cognitive, emotional and relational aspects of prisoners.

Training of sports and prison clubs participants : providing tools necessary for a better interpretation and intervention in the prison environment.
